The Scene You Are Building

The banners are crimson, the throne is empty, and the window is watching you.

Tall, narrow and using every millimetre. Behind the gothic facade rises a throne hall for a dragon's court: a backlit stained-glass dragon window, a dragon throne beneath, crimson banners down the stonework, chandeliers overhead and crystals catching the light. One wing of the facade is hinged, to reveal the hall or shut it away.

For all its drama, a beginner build: 142 pieces of pre-cut MDF, with paper, metal and faux-crystal accents doing the fine detail, and two to four hours for most builders. Raise the tower, hang the banners and chandeliers, seat the throne, then fit the LED set so the dragon window ignites at a touch. It looks far harder than it is.

For fantasy readers, dungeon-crawling gamers and anyone whose shelves lean towards dragons; a satisfying first nook, or a fast weekend project. Between dark fantasy paperbacks, it rises above the spines and glows faintly after lights-out.

Yes: Warm-white LED, touch switch. Batteries aren't included, so have some ready for the moment you finish.

Batteries for the LED light (2 × AAA), which aren't in the box. In the box: the illustrated manual. A craft knife or fine sandpaper helps tidy edges.
